David Dalton Barfield was born on April 22, 1929, in Eldorado, Georgia. He was the son of Chester Barfield and Maudie Irene Barfield. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1949 and later served in Japan before deploying to Korea. He served in the 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.
PFC Barfield was Killed in Action on July 11, 1950, near Chochiwon, South Korea. He is now buried in the Eldorado Baptist Church Cemetery, Eldorado, Tift County, Georgia, USA.
