James Henry Ball was born on July 25, 1930, in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama. He was the son of John Clark "Jack" Ball and Eula Mae Oakley Ball. He served in the 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and medic during the Korean War.
PFC Ball was Killed in Action on September 21, 1952, while tending his wounded comrades in North Korea. He is now buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA.
