Odom Carl Bain was born on March 10, 1929, in Town Creek, Lawrence County, Alabama. He was the son of Louis Tolbert Bain and Ida Louella Odom Bain. He served in Battery L, 4th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, as a Corporal during the Korean War.

Cpl Bain was listed as Missing in Action while engaging the enemy at the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea, on December 2, 1950, and presumed dead on November 2, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. He also has a cenotaph in the Black Ground Cemetery, Town Creek, Lawrence County, Alabama, USA.
