Luther Mayo Ange was born on May 30, 1921, in Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama. He was the son of Golden Elias Ange Sr. and Ina "Honor Glen" Carawan Sanders. He was married to Rosie L. Ange. He served in Company E, 2nd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Pvt Ange was Killed in Action on May 22, 1951, while fighting the enemy in South Korea. According to the casualty report, he was serving with a rifle platoon when he was struck in the head by small-arms fire and killed instantly at approximately 7:45 p.m. during an advance near Hoengsong, Korea. He is now buried in the Zebulon Town Cemetery, Zebulon, Wake County, North Carolina, USA.
