Vasile Ugran was the son of Peter and Irma Ugran. He was born in Romania on Dec. 29, 1925, and had lived in Youngstown for 17 years prior to his service in the army. He was employed by the Carnegie Illinois Steel Corporation and attended Holy Trinity Romanian Church. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and of the Boy Scouts. He enlisted in the Army on August 8, 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on February 27, 1945 and is now buried in Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, USA.
