When Lewis DeWolf Sibley was born on June 9, 1925, in New Hampshire, his father, Homer, was 38 and his mother, Goldina, was 31. He enlisted in the Army on October 11, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents. Lewis served as a Private, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Sullivan County, New Hampshire prior to the war. Lewis was "Killed In Action" at Wellesburg, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
