Burdel Frank Edwards was born on December 12, 1919, in Bloomington, Grant County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Claude Franklin Edwards and Isadore Mae Moore Govier.

Burdel served in the #419 Moose Squadron (Moosa Aswayita) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer (Pilot) during World War II. He was Killed in Action on May 13, 1944, when his Lancaster aircraft #KB 713 was shot down at Coxyde during a night attack against the marshaling yards at Louvain, Belgium.

He is now buried in the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery in Belgium and has a cenotaph in the Bloomington Cemetery, Wisconsin.
