When Clyde I. Hackett was born in 1924 in New York, his father, Ira, was 34 and his mother, Helen, was 21. He had two brothers and one sister. He enlisted in the Army on January 16, 1943 in Syracuse, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Filling Station Attendant and also as Single, without dependents. Clyde served as a Private, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Onondaga County, New York prior to the war. Clyde was "Killed In Action" near Paderborn, Germany during the war.
