When James D. Estill was born on June 8, 1923, his father, Douglas, was 29 and his mother, Ethel, was 21. He had one brother and two sisters. He entered the military service in Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on April 16, 1945 and is now buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands. He also has a marker in Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, USA
