Peter John Davies was born in Wales on March 15, 1923. Davies was brought to the States by his parents at the age of three. After a short time in Buffalo, N. Y., the family moved to Troy, where Peter attended school, graduating in 1942. He entered the Army on February 1, 1943 and was trained in the Anti-Aircraft branch of the Army at Camp Edwards, Mass., and Sioux Ste. Marie, Michigan before being transferred to an infantry unit. Cpl. Davies was sent to a camp in Oklahoma and then to Camp Haan, California. After three months training, he sailed from Ft George F. Meade, MD for Europe. Following his landing in France, he soon went forward with the First Army, fighting on the front lines in Germany with the First Infantry Division when he was killed. Cpl Davies was the sixth member of the 1942 graduating class from Van Cleve high school to give his life in World War II.
