Richard V. Brucato was born on July 26, 1924. He was the son of Robert I. and Angela L. He had one brother. His father was an immigrant from Italy. Pfc Richard V. Brucato attended Central High School in Duluth, Minnesota. He entered the military service in Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in action in the vicinity of Schierke-Braunlage, Harz Mountains, Germany on April 23, 1945 and is now buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.
