When Donald I. Beales was born in 1920 in Massachusetts, his father, Alonzo, was 30 and his mother, Harriet, was 29. He had three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fourth Grade in the 1st Reconnaissance Troop, 1st Infantry Division. He died on February 12, 1945 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
