Irving Louis Batton was born on June 18, 1916. He was the son of James D. and Rosa Lee Batton of Virginia. He was a graduate of the old Fredericksburg High School and a member of the Methodist Church in Fredericksburg, was employed as clerk Princess Anne Hotel in Fredericksburg and at the air mail post office at the National Airport, Washington, before he entered the service. He entered the service in September 1944 and served as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on April 11, 1945 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
