John Keehler Grisard was born on April 18, 1892, in College Park, Maryland. He was the son of John Simon Grisard and Paulina May Keehln Grisard. He was married to Marie Nulsen Grisard.

John served in the Signal Reserve Corps during World War I. He was killed in an airplane accident in Issoudun, France, on May 1, 1918. 1Lt Grisard was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. He is now buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He has a cenotaph located in the Rosehill Cemetery and Mausoleum, Illinois.
