Ernest Gautier served in the 30th Aero Squadron as a Private during World War I. He died of pneumonia in Issoudun, France, on September 27, 1918. Pvt Gautier was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. His current burial place is unknown.
