Harry Carney Colborn was born on December 15, 1880, in Michigan City, Indiana. He was the son of Abram Reginald Colborn and Catharine J. Woods Colborn.

Harry was an employee of Guernsey Clay Company, Indianapolis, at the time of enlistment. He received his training at Rantoul, Ill., and Memphis, Tenn., and was assigned to the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps. Serving as an instructor at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in Issoudun, France, he was killed in an airplane accident on May 11, 1918, while making a test flight. 1Lt Colborn is now buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He has a cenotaph located in the Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana, USA.
