William Graham Carmack was born on December 13, 1896, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Amariah Carmack and Ruth Steele Craft Carmack.

William graduated in 1915 from the Niagara Falls, N. Y., High School, and entered Cornell the same year, in the course in arts.

He attended the Ground School of Aviation at Cornell and sailed for France, where on August 9, 1918, he was killed in an accident. He was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. 2Lt Carmack is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
