John Edward Silverman was born on November 8, 1923. He resided in Wisconsin prior to the war. He served in the 860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, H860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-17 #44-6513 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 9, 1945, when his airplane was hit by an enemy flak and crashed near Munich, Germany. All men aboard were killed as a result of the crash.

1Lt Silverman is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
