William W. Millan, Jr. was born on March 2, 1925, in the District of Columbia. He was the son of William Walter Millan and Bernice Jones Holbrook.
William Walter, Jr. resided in Virginia prior to the war. He served in the 860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, H860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Waist Gunner on the B-17 #44-6513 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 9, 1945, when his airplane was hit by an enemy flak and crashed near Munich, Germany. All men aboard were killed as a result of the crash.
Sgt Millan's body was never found. His name is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
