Daniel Kurnick was born on February 25, 1923, in New York. He served in the 860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, H860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Bombardier on the B-17 #44-6513 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 9, 1945, when his airplane was hit by an enemy flak and crashed near Munich, Germany. All men aboard were killed as a result of the crash.

Sgt Kurnick is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
