William Amos Burberry was born on July 22, 1882, in Surrey, England. He was the son of William and Mary Burberry, of 1026, Hollywood Avenue, Far Rockaway, Long Island, New York.

During World War I, William served in the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles (British Columbia Regiment), Canadian Expeditionary Force, as a Private. He died on November 6, 1918, at the age of 36, and is now buried in the Quievrain Communal Cemetery, in Belgium.
