John Kent Childs served in the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He failed to return from a mission to Argentan, France in P-51B #43-6563 aircraft, when it was hit in coolant system whilst strafing truck convoy. The plane crashed near Mortagne, France on June 10, 1944. 1LT Childs was killed in the crash and is now buried in the Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook, DuPage County, Illinois, USA.
