Harold Worthy, of Jerseyville, Illinois, was the son of Armell Worthy, enlisted together with his cousin Frederick Worthy. They served in Company K, 138th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division during World War I, Harold as a Corporal. They were two of the brave American soldiers who died in battle in September 1918 during the liberation of Vauquois, France. Harold's body was never found but his name is memorialized at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery's missing plaque listing in Missouri.
