Robert H. McMurray was born on January 5, 1922 in New York. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted as a Aviation Cadet in the Army Air Corps on January 23, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents. Robert served as a 2nd Lt., 308th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was "Killed In Action" on August 21, 1943 at the age of 21 during the war and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
2Lt McMurray was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
