Daniel E. Laws was born on September 9, 1923 in New York. He resided in Baltimore County, Maryland prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on March 22, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents. Daniel served as a 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Daniel died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related plane crash in Burma. He is now buried in the Baltimore National Cemetery, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Maryland, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. Daniel is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
