Alfred R. Bockover was born on August 14, 1922 in Twelve Mile, Cass County, Indiana. He was graduated from the Soldiers and Sailors high school at Knightstown in 1939. He entered the service in May, 1942, at Fort Harrison. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. Alfred was killed on Oct. 27, 1944, in India when the plane in which he was taking off for a mission crashed. He was buried temporarily in the military cemetery at Decca, Bengal, India but is now buried in the Skinner Christian Cemetery, Twelve Mile, Cass County, Indiana, USA.
Tsgt Bockover was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
