William B. Williamson, Jr. was born in 1916 in Maine. He was the son of William and Ida Gartley Williamson. He resided in Kennebec County, Maine prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 30, 1940, prior to the war, in Augusta, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employe as a Advertising agent and also as Single, without dependents. William served as a Captain on C-47A (#42-118930), 27th Troop Carrier Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

William was "Killed In Action" when his C-47 crashed near Mangshih, China during the war. He is now buried in the Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine, USA. CPT Williamson was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
