Hamilton Ryley Turbyfill, Jr. was born on January 24, 1918 in Palestine, Texas. He was the son of Hamilton and Mary Alice Thompson Turbyfill. He served in the US Army Air Forces as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He died on April 9, 1943 at the age of 25 and is now buried in the Palestine City Cemetery, Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, USA. 1Lt Turbyfill was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
