Frederick L. Thatcher was born on October 12, 1920. He served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 30, 1944 at the age of 23 in a plane crash in Santahar, India. He is now buried in the Garfield Cemetery, Kalkaska, Kalkaska County, Michigan, USA. 2Lt Thatcher was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
