George Campbell, Jr. Osborn was born on February 10, 1921 in Alabama. He was the son of George and Mary Roseamond Bull Osborn. He enlisted in the Army in Oct 1942 at Ft. McClellan, AL. to the India-China Wing Air Transport Command and served as an Assistant Engineer during WWII. He died while flying the Burma Hump in the Himalayas on December 20, 1943. The wreckage was never found. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

PFC Osborn was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
