Alonzo R. Minor was born on November 11, 1906 in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. He was the son of Walter Harvil Minor and Pearl Palmer Minor. Alonzo served in the US Air Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel during World War II. He died on January 25, 1944 at the age of 37 in India and is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA in a common grave with other men. He was a passenger of an aircraft at the time of his death. LTC Minor was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
