Robert M. Lindsay was born on February 13, 1918. He served in the 98th Troop Carrier Squadron as a Captain during World War II. Captain Lindsay (appears to be) the sole fatality in the crash of U.S. Army Air Corps C-87 Liberator Express #41-23695, in which he was piloting, near Kumming, China. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
