George A. Landwer was born on January 22, 1917. He was the son of George R. Landwer and Ida A. Klein Landwer. He served in the US Air Corps as a Private First Class and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. George died on July 1, 1945 at the age of 28 and is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington, Cook County, Illinois, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
