Joseph E. Haynes resided in Texas prior to the war. He served as a Captain and was a passenger on the F-7A (#42-64189), 24th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, 8th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Joseph was "Killed In Action" when the F-7A he was on crashed, for an undetermined reason, in India during the war. He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA in a common grave with his crew on March 7, 1950. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.
