Louis Clinton Bailey was born on April 22, 1914. He served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Louis was killed in action in China on December 22, 1944. He flew out of India, over the Hump, supplying China in their efforts to repel the invading Japanese. He is now buried in the Ortona Cemetery, Ortona, Glades County, Florida, USA. Louis was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but the death date inscribed for him is December 21, 1944.
