First Lieutenant Martin Adams took off from airfield A5 in his P-47 Thunderbolt 42-28449 for the Coulommiers airfield. He was shot down in an aerial duel with a German fighter at 1415.

Martin served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on P-47D #42-28449, 506th Fighter Squadron, 404th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Putnam County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 5, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.
