Martin served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on P-47D #42-28449, 506th Fighter Squadron, 404th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Putnam County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 5, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.
