Franklin C. Hayward was born on July 8, 1913 in Ohio. He was the son of Robert W. Hayward and Clara B. Hayward. Before entering military service on March 22, 1944, Hayward was employed for 10 years in the Toledo Street Department. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 20, 1944 in Germany at the age of 31 and is now buried in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, USA.
