John J. Gorman was the son of John A. and Mary Gorman. He had attended Camden High School, and worked at the Penn-Jersey Shipyard prior to being inducted into the United States Army in March of 1943. He trained at Fort Meade MD and Fort Bragg NC prior to being sent overseas in July of 1944. He joined the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division as a replacement. Corporal Gorman was killed in action during the siege of Aachen, Germany on October 12, 1944, at the age of 22. He is now buried in New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, Camden County, New Jersey, USA.
