Jewell Elwood Marcus was born on July 8, 1912. He was the son of John Brown Marcus and Lillie Belle Wallace Marcus. Jewell entered the military service on March 2, 1943 in Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in Company G, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on October 10, 1944 in Germany at the age of 32 and is now buried in Morris Cemetery, Greenfield, Weakley County, Tennessee, USA.
