Filbert Martinez was born on June 1, 1921 in New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 16, 1944 in Aachen, Germany at the age of 23 and is now buried in Picuris Pueblo Cemetery, Picuris Pueblo, Taos County, New Mexico, USA. A commemorative brick is placed along wall (Section AHZ 5 27) in National World War II Museum for him.
