Robert Orville Pengra was born on January 10, 1922 in Chehalis, Lewis County, Washington. He was the son of Haricy Edgar Pengra and Edna Violet Irish Pengra. Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 12, 1944 in Germany at the age of 22 and is now buried in Longview Memorial Park, Longview, Cowlitz County, Washington, USA.
