Winfield Gerald “Windy” Saurman was born on October 11, 1914 in Wyoming, Kent County, Michigan. He was the son of Frank Winfield Saurman and Icie Maude Baldry Saurman. Winfield served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 16, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium at the age of 30 and is now buried in Rest Lawn Memorial Park, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan, USA.
