Mentro Klop was born in New York. He was the son of George Klop and Anna Gladis Klop. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Mentro took part in the fighting in Tunisia, Sicily, and in the D-Day landings on Omaha Beach, France. He was Killed in Action on October 8, 1944 in Germany and is now buried in Saint Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls, Seneca County, New York, USA.
