Robert served as a Staff Sergeant, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on November 18, 1944 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
