Justin Bruce Darsey was born on November 16, 1921. He was the son of Eric Lenwood Darsey and Reedie Dykes Darsey. An infantry officer with the First army, Lieutenant Darsey had participated in the campaigns in Normandy and France. A 1939 graduate of Byrd high school, he attended Tulane university and Louisiana State university where he was enrolled in the school of chemical engineering. A member of the R.O.T.C. during high school and college, Darsey enlisted in the army reserve in April, 1942, and was serving as a military instructor when he was called to active duty, April 7, 1943. Darsey was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on Oct. 25, 1943, at Ft Benning, Ga. He was Killed in Action on November 23, 1944 in Hurtgen Forest battle at the age of 23 and is now buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, Gadsden County, Florida, USA.
