Private Walter A. Obrohta was born in West Virginia in 1922. In 1940, he resided in Warren, Pennsylvania. Drafted into the army, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in Company F, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He formed part of an assault platoon storming Omaha Beach in the first wave, at 6.35 am, under the guns of a German strong point. Walter was Killed in Action June 6, 1944 but his current burial place is unknown.
