John Matt Malone was born on November 15, 1921 in Lordsburg, Hidalgo County, New Mexico. He was the son of John Joseph Malone and Lillie May Malone. John Matt served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 7, 1944 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Duncan Valley Cemetery, Duncan, Greenlee County, Arizona, USA.
