James Wilbur Russler was born on October 15, 1920. He was the son of Ralph Irvin Russler and Mary Martha McConnell Russler. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
