Ronald R. Henley was born on May 31, 1922 in Wythe County, Virginia. He was the son of Dewey Dawson Henley and Laura Lee Spraker Henley. Ronald served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 11, 1944 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Wythe County, Virginia, USA. Private Ronald Henley graduated from VPI Class of 1943. His name is emblazoned on the Virginia Tech War Memorial “Sacrifice” Pylon.
