Roy R. Krenke was born on August 24, 1920 in Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Richard E. Krenke and Ida C. Horn Krenke. He was a graduate of Washington high school with the class of 1938. He trained in Texas following his graduation from high school. Krenke attended the University of Wisconsin for three years majoring in economics. He left the university in June 1942 and entered the service on November 7, 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas and in Pa. and in 1943 was sent overseas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Omaha Beach, France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, USA.
